Patchnotes, you can’t make up

OAuth – You’re doing it wrong!
Zum Blogpost Twitter-Tools 2.4 beim Schockwellenreiter habe ich mal meinen Senf zur neuen Auth-Methode der Twitter Tools (WP-Plug-In) gegeben. Der Vollständigkeit halber pack ich das hier auch noch rein:
Dass man sich eine eigene App registrieren muss, halte ich für äußerst fragwürdig und lässt mich darauf schließen, dass der Autor das OAuth Verfahren nicht verstanden hat. Richtig ist, dass es seine registrierte App geben muss. Diese sollte aber vom Author des Plug-Ins angelegt werden und das Plug-In sollte dann mit den nötigen Schlüsseln versehen werden, um sich gegenüber Twitter zu authentifizieren.
Es gibt in diesem Zusammenhang berechtigte Bedenken, da sozusagen der “private key” der Anwendung im Klartext mit dem Plug-In ausgeliefert werden müsste (ich stand selbst schon vor dem Problem). Den User eine eigene App einrichten zu lassen halte ich allerdings für äußerst fragwürdig. Das als “neues offizielles Verfahren” in der Anleitung anzupreisen ist schlichtweg falsch und wirft ein schlechtes Bild Licht auf den Entwickler.

I don’t know how else to put it. These lamps, by a Japanese craftsman known as Great Mushrooming, feature handblown glass mushrooms, with internal LEDs, mounted in found driftwood bases with conspicuous on/off switches. I don’t think they could get any better.

In what the dead tree magazine claims as a first, although other publications have flirted with the concept, the latest edition is fully Augmented Reality supported. Yep, that’s right, point your iPhone’s camera at pages of the publication, after downloading the accompanying app of course, and – bingo – additional content is unlocked or brought to life.

Der “How cool is that”-Faktor ist schon ziemlich hoch bei dem Ding. Das sollte man sich durchaus mal live betrachten.

Das könnte sich zukünftig als äußerst hilfreich erweisen. Und sie sind auf github. Win on a respectable level.

git-sh
A customized bash shell suitable for git work.
The
git-shcommand starts an interactive bash shell tweaked for heavy git interaction:
- All git commands available at top-level (
checkout master=git checkout master)- All git aliases defined in the
[alias]section of~/.gitconfigavailable at top-level.- Shawn O. Pearce’s excellent bash completion strapped onto all core commands and git aliases.
- Custom prompt with current branch, repository, and work tree dirty indicator.
- Customizable via
/etc/gitshrcand~/.gitshrcconfig files; for creating aliases, changing the prompt, etc.- Runs on top of normal bash (
~/.bashrc) and readline (~/.inputrc) configurations.
This looks pretty darn neat.
